Female empowerment genom trädplantering: Hur Green Belt Movement har skapat förutsättningar för demokratisering i Kenya

Den här uppsatsen behandlar kopplingen mellan Female empowerment och demokratisering. Med utgångspunkt i en maximalistisk definition av demokrati, hävdas att Female empowerment är en nödvändig förutsättning för att en demokratiseringsprocess ska kunna lyckas.I uppsatsen analyseras den kenyanska miljöorganisationen Green Belt Movement:s arbete utifrån teorier om Female empowerment. Kvinnor i Kenya är traditionellt underordnade männen och saknar inflytande och möjligheter att styra över sina egna liv. Inom Green Belt Movement har kvinnor fått en ledande roll och givits möjligheten att påverka sin situation. Analysen slår fast att organisationen har lyckats skapa Female empowerment i flera aspekter bland de kvinnor som är aktiva i dess verksamhet.

The purpose of this study was to examine how employees perceive female chief executiveofficers and if any significant differences between what leadership-skills female and maleco-employees choose to express about female leaders can be observed. The survey isperformed as a qualitative study where three companies within the retail marketparticipated. We collected our empirical data by interviews and observations and usedsocial constructivist theory to look at how individuals construct their subjective view ofreality. The result showed, among others, that female employees often use traditional maleskills to describe the strengths of their female chief, whereas male employees emphasizesmore female skills such as unpretentious and open-minded..

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate whether publiclibraries language cafés can support or enable the empowerment of the participants. Empowerment means that the individuals ability to take control of their own lives is strengthened and that the individual becomes more independent. Empowerment also means that the individual takes part in a community. An important part of this is the language. I have developed two research questions: What forms of empowerment can be seen in the respondents' statements? What role do language cafés play for people from other countries, in terms of empowerment? The thesis empirical material consists of interviews whit five people involved in different languages cafes in public libraries in the city of Malmö.

Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go everywhere- a qualitative thesis about the organization Empower and their sex working women in Thailand.

This thesis examines the organization Empower and their members, who consist of sex working women in Thailand. The purpose is to explore the more liberal point of view of prostitution and how the female members perceive Empower. Furthermore the study investigates if the organization can improve the sex workers empowerment. The study also delineates how these women reflect on their professional role as a sex working woman and whether the women relate to feminine discourses. The study is implemented in Chiang Mai, Thailand during the fall of the year 2010 and is based on qualitative methods like interview, focus group, observations and text analysis.

Arbetstillfredsställelse, rolltydlighet och empowerment

Studiens syfte var att undersöka huruvida ett pilotprojekt bestående av en ny typ avmedarbetar- och lönesamtal i Sandvikens kommun givit någon effekt på rolltydlighet,empowerment och arbetstillfredsställelse. Vidare var syftet att undersöka sambanden mellanrolltydlighet, empowerment och arbetstillfredsställelse. En enkät besvarades av 62förskollärare. Genom t-test undersöktes skillnaden mellan förskollärare som deltar i projektet(N=34) och andra förskollärare (N=28) gällande dessa variabler, men inga signifikantaskillnader kunde visas. En multivariat regressionsanalys visade i enlighet med tidigareforskning ett samband mellan rolltydlighet och arbetstillfredsställelse, men något sambandmellan empowerment och arbetstillfredsställelse visades inte.

Gärningskvinnan : en kvalitativ studie om frivårdsinspektörers syn på den kvinnliga brottslingen

How do probation inspectors describe their female clients and female offenders? Are there any discrepancies in treatment between male and female clients? In what way is the social interaction between female clients and inspectors constructed and described?  These are the issues we have explored in this study. Qualitative semi-structured interviews with a total of nine probation inspectors; six women and three men, were used in order to examine the probation inspectors? constructions of clients and the construction of interaction between them. By applying Foucault?s theory of power relations, Hirdman?s gender theory and Olsson?s theory of preconceptions when analyzing the results five themes were identified; descriptions of the work of the female client, descriptions of the interaction with the female client, descriptions of the female offender, descriptions of backgrounds why women commit crimes and descriptions of society's view on the female offender.

Empowerment - En litteraturstudie om att motivera diabetes mellitus typ 2 patienter till ökad egenvård

Diabetes mellitus typ 2 (DMT2) är en växande sjukdom som patienten kan påverka genom att byta livsstil. I Sverige har 365 000 personer diagnostiserats med diabetes mellitus typ 2. Det tros finnas lika många personer med oupptäckt diabetes mellitus typ 2. Syftet med studien var att undersöka på vilket sätt sjuksköterskan ska utföra empowerment för att motivera diabetes mellitus typ 2 människor till förbättrad egenvård. Som metod användes litteraturstudie.

Kvinnorna vid makten : En fallstudie om skillnader och likheter mellan svenska och amerikanska kvinnliga ledare.

 The purpose of this case study was to view if there were any differences and similarities between Swedish and American female leaders, with focus on the Swedish female leaders. We also wanted to find out if the American female leaders had problem whit the classcelling.Our case study is a quality method, because we wanted to reach the dep't that quality methods can reach. We interviewed four Swedish female leaders and tried to get in touch whit American female leaders but whit out any success. So instead we analyzed already existing research about the American female leadership. Our result showed that there were some differences between the two countries; in the same time we also found similarities. The classcelling tends to exist more in Sweden than in the US.   .

Mjuk, omsorgsfull och sexualförbrytare : - En studie om kvinnor dömda för sexualbrott

AbstractThere is a general perception that women are victims and men are the perpetrators of sexual offense. Female perpetrators of sexual crimes have been neglected in the research literature, because female sex offenders do not live up to preconceptions of female as motherly and caring. Females tend to be responsible for a very small portion of all crimes and are estimated to account for 1-2% of all sexual offenses. Theories use to discuss female sex offending include neutralization of behavior, mental health and feminist theory. The aim of the present study was to describe female sex offenders and examine the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim by analyzing court judgments.

Empowerment en vision eller ett faktum? : Personliga ombuds resonemang kring empowerment som arbetsmetod.

The purpose of our study is to examine the case managers reasoning and descriptions of empowerment as a method in their social work from a comprehensively perspective including family members. To manage with this purpose we interviewed two case managers, two clients with mental disabilities and five family members. We have come to the conclusion that the case managers works more consist of advocacy than empowerment. Despite that we have found that the long term goal for the case mangers work is to give the clients tools for empowerment. Our results also show that the clients feel that they have gained and increased their ability to do things by themselves and to be a part of the community.

Begreppen coaching och empowerment har blivit mycket populära. Coaching är att hjälpa människor att lyckas. Empowerment översätts på svenska med egenmakt och maktmobilisering. Rapportens syftet är att, genom observationer och kompletterande intervjuer, studera begreppet Empowerment för att se hur dess utveckling i praktiken kan urskiljas och hur det kan engagera enskilda individer i en organisation. Det empiriska materialet består endast av primär datainsamling som sedan legat till grund för valet av den teoretiska inslamlingen. Empowerment: en litteraturstudie

Syftet med denna undersökning är att mot bakgrund av en analys av befintlig forskning kring empowerment föra en kritisk diskussion med fokus på makt och människosyn. Litteraturstudie är vår valda metod, och utgångspunkten är en kritisk analys i granskningen av litteraturen. Vi har rekonstruerat tidigare forskning för att undersöka vilken syn som finns på empowerment som framförs i litteraturen. I litteraturgenomgången framkom att makt är en grundläggande beståndsdel i empowerment. Detta medförde att vi valde att hädanefter studera empowerment ur ett maktperspektiv.

This thesis is about how the front-staff in two service companies experience empowerment. Competition for business in today's society is becoming increasingly fierce, which means that they must find a way to differentiate themselves from competitors. Service has become a way to compete. Front-staff competence and ability to offer a good service is a crucial factor when the company's success is being measured.Empowerment in business is used as a tool to create motivation and satisfaction of individuals at work. Companies using empowerment can create the freedom and opportunities for employees to act at their own intelligence and discretion.
